This all-rose gold Miraculous Medal was originally a symbolic object born of an apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Paris in 1830. She told him "those who wear this medal with confidence will receive great graces". The front shows the Virgin Mary standing on a half globe, her feet crushing the serpent. On the other side, a cross surmounts Mary's initials. Underneath, Jesus' heart is crowned with thorns, and hers pierced with a sword.
