This all-gold Miraculous Medal was originally a symbolic object born of an apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1830 on rue du Bac in Paris. On the other side, a cross surmounts Mary's initials. Underneath, Jesus' heart is crowned with thorns, and hers pierced with a sword.
